Match Report from Bill Simmons:
"Surprisingly the game was again 11-6. The team from
Paul VI is not a strong team so it appeared that they brought
their varsity team to play as well as their junior varsity
team, something neither I or the Westonbirt coaches expected.
The girls played very hard and it was a pretty even match,
the PVI goal keeper made 9 saves, which provided to be the
difference as the girls from Westonbirt did not give up many
scoring chances.
The weather was stormy initially and we waited 40 minutes
for more favorable conditions. The sun did come out by the
start of the game and it was much cooler, but relatively dry
for the contest.
Tomorrow they are off to Baltimore, what a wonderful trip
they have planned. Our parents enjoyed having them here a
great deal and we are somewhat disappointed how fast the stay
went. We are a little envious of the opportunity to go to
New York and Boston, some of our kids may sneak on the bus
I think!
In all seriousness, they are delightful young women, as I
mentioned earlier, and impressed our families a great deal.
We send them to Baltimore with our best wishes for a great
visit to the United States, we felt fortunate that they included
us in their trip."
Many thanks to William Simmons, Director of Athletics at
Bishop Ireton High School for the match commentaries, comments,
co-ordination of the second match and pictures of the previous
game.
